Pine buds are the seed-bearing buds of the cones of Pine trees and are natural sources of Vitamin C, tannins, and the unique essential oil pinene. In parts of eastern and northeastern Europe pine buds are made into a tea that has a slightly grassy, herbaceous flavor. For tea, add 1 tablespoon of buds per cup of water to a pot, bring to a low boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
